Next time you’re ready to shove that donut into your mouth because you’re hungry or just because it’s there, ask yourself, “Is this what I want to be made of?” Will this food give me the clear glowing skin, shiny hair and strong nails that I want? Will this food give me long lasting energy so that I can live the life I want?
Conscious eating changes everything.
Once you take the time to look at every bite you eat and every sip you take you make the time to think about the masterpiece you are. Would Picasso smear his canvas with toxic goo? Would Michael Angelo look for David in a mound of hydrogenated oil? What makes you think that your masterpiece will come from filling your body with “food-like” products?
Take time to eat colorfully.
Adding LOTS of colorful fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet ensures you the building blocks to health. We’re talking REAL colors here. Not the artificial blue in that blueberry “flavored” muffin or the bright red added to goo for strawberry “flavored” fillings. Instead, reach for red bell peppers, green spinach, the deep purple of blackberries and the Orange glow of butternut squash.
Be sure your fruit and vegetables are fresh – no chemicals added!
Avoid prepared foods with additives that enhance flavor and extend shelf life. Push your cart through the produce area. Touch, tape and smell what you buy. Eat your produce raw, sauté it in healthy fat or roast it in your own oven. The only way to be sure you know what’s in your food is to make it yourself.
Yes, you can have a life and prepare your own food!
With the new clean eating craze you’ll find healthy meal suggestions around every corner. Check out your local newspaper, the Sunday Magazine, ladies’ magazines, TV shows, Pintrest or just Google clean eating. Yes, you will have to stock your kitchen with healthy foods and more importantly you’ll have to EAT them! Decide that filling the masterpiece that is you with healthy building blocks is more important than just “filling” your life. Eat intentionally. Live intentionally.
